  • Sector: Urban planning

  • Estimated cost (USD): USD 50 million

  • Estimated cost (FCFA): FCFA 25 billion

In Niger, over two-thirds of the 19 million inhabitants survive with less than one dollar per day and adequate health care is an impossible luxury. In addition to the challenge of access to medical care, Niger is experiencing a soaring malnutrition rate among children under five: this rate has evolved from 13.5% in 2013 to 15% in 2015, which is the emergency threshold established by the World Health Organization (WHO). This hospital will provide all care and tertiary services and will also contribute to reducing the very high cost of international medical evacuations, evaluated at over FCFA 5 billion (7.6 million Euros) by the Nigerien Minister for Health, Kalla Moutari.

Benefits

  • Reduction of the cost of medical evacuations;
  • Respond to the sustainable development objectives fixed in the Agenda 2030;
  •  Creation of permanent and temporary jobs;
  •  Improvement of monitoring level and increase in productivity.
